It comes down to the size of the elevations, how many storeys, what state the existing wall is in and which render system you go for. A single gable is a very different job to a full four-sided detached.

We do not quote blind or over the phone. We come out, measure up and give you a fixed written price with the scaffold and the making good included, so there are no extras added later.

A typical semi or terrace is usually three to five working days on site once the scaffold is up. A large detached can run to two weeks.

Weather is the one thing we cannot control. Render will not go on in heavy rain or a hard frost, so we build a little slack into every programme and keep you posted day by day.

Sand and cement is the traditional option. It is strong and cost effective, but it needs painting afterwards and it will need repainting every few years.

Silicone thin-coat render is through-coloured, so the colour runs all the way through the material. It is breathable, flexible enough to resist hairline cracking, and it sheds dirt and water rather than soaking it up. It costs more up front and saves you the repainting.

Usually yes. If the pebbledash is sound and well stuck to the wall we can apply a levelling basecoat with mesh over the top and finish in a smooth modern render.

If it is blown, hollow or coming away in sheets, it has to come off first. We tap-test the whole elevation before quoting so you know which one you are paying for.

For anything above single storey, yes. Rendering needs a stable working platform across the whole elevation to get a consistent finish, and towers or ladders will leave you with visible joins.

Scaffold is included in the price we quote. You will not get a separate bill for it.

Through-coloured silicone and monocouche renders come in a wide range, from whites and off-whites through greys, sands and darker shades. Most people in this area go for a white, an off-white or a mid grey.

We bring sample boards out so you can hold the colour against your brick, stone and window frames in daylight rather than picking from a screen.

No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is doing you a disservice. Render is a weather coat, not a damp treatment. If water is getting in through a defective gutter, a cracked lintel or a bridged cavity, rendering over it traps the problem.

We look for the cause first. If there is something that needs sorting before we start, we will tell you, even when that means the job gets delayed.
